Preamble
Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering is the engineering discipline that applies engineering sciences and technology to Agricultural production and processing.
The Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology Department is designed to train Students to posses the necessary skills that are needed in Mechanized Agriculture, rural living, Processing of farm products and other allied activities that enhances environmental preservation and the total welfare of the people.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology programme is designed to train students to posses the necessary skills that are needed produce capable of utilizing and carrying out repairs and routine maintenance of farm machinery, irrigation and drainage facilities as well as storage and processing equipment and who can assist in the design of farm structures and other farm facilities.
OBJECTIVES
On the completion of the programme, the diplomat of ND in Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering should be able to;
- Operate, maintain and repair farm tractors and other farm implements, tools equipments and machinery.
- Supervise and manage mechanized farms and farming operations.
- Construct and maintain small earth dams, drainage and water distribution systems and structures for irrigation purposes.
- Carry out the construction and layout of contours, terraces, strip cropping for soil conservation purposes.
- Erect single farm storage structures (Silos, Cribs, Rhombus e.t.c.)
- Maintain and repair simple primary crop processing machines like sellers, decorticators, grates, milling machine, graders e.t.c.
- Install, maintain and repair irrigation equipment.
- Design, maintain and repair electrical wiring systems in farm buildings and homes.
- Prepare brief technical report on small scale farm enterprises.
- Prepare a farm survey plan and land capability, classification of a farm.
